Build Chicken House
At first you may have previously read, we planned to build our chicken house from scraps of wood and marine ply we’ve had kicking round the garden. We ended up with a pretty simple looking ‘box’, that I’m sure with a bit more ‘manipulating’ would do the trick.
There’s loads of plans and books on amazon and the like - click Build A Chicken House and you’ll see what I mean. Many of these can be picked up off of Amazon for pennies second hand. It really is a great book resource on chicken keeping!
We ended up buying a chicken house pretty cheaply off of ebay - it was delivered flat packed, so in reality, you still had to put the finishing ‘chicken house building’ touches on it!
With the help of two children under four, I’d built the chicken house in under a hour - I wouldn’t count myself as being the handiest ‘Andy’ in the area, so if even I could build a chicken house in this time, I’m sure most people could!

So go on, whether you plan to build your own chicken house using plans from a chicken book or buy a chicken house flat packed from ebay and the like, both are worth the effort!

Hey, I can’t believe that you bought that chicken coop from ebay in a flat pack. Even more impressive is the fact that you built it in an hour! I’m really impressed. Did it come with detailed chicken coop plans or did you just put it all together without instructions?
